On Wednesday night, I was selected to contest next year’s Local Elections on behalf of Fianna Fáil in the Naas local electoral area. I’m honoured and humbled to have been selected by the members of the party and I look forward to the challenge ahead.
There will be nine seats in the redrawn Naas electoral area and Fianna Fáil will be running three candidates in an attempt to win three seats. I’ll be working with incumbent councillor, Willie Callaghan and Local Area Rep James Lawless who were also selected to contest #le14 on behalf of the party. Both Willie and James have been doing fantastic work on behalf of the people locally and in renewing the party nationally and I’m delighted to be running alongside them.
At the convention on Wednesday night I repeated my belief that local government has a huge role to play in our economic recovery. As the saying goes “Government doesn’t create jobs – it creates the conditions for jobs”. This is absolutely true of local government too, and I want to ensure that Kildare County Council does everything in its power to help foster enterprise and growth.
Over the next seven months I’ll be outlining my campaign priorities on this website and across social media. I’ll also be sharing ideas and initiatives which I hope can help us build both a stronger economy and society.
I look forward to meeting as many people as possible and discussing my ideas over the weeks and months ahead.
