Having lobbied Athy district council in the past few months I’m glad to see that some action has been taken in repairing the severe damage to Main Street in Kilcullen. Last week, the major potholes on this road which had seriously deteriorated in recent bad weather was addressed by the council.
The solution is far from permanent but it was essential that the council address the issue as quickly as possible. At the most recent meeting of Athy county councillors my colleague, Martin Miley Jr. who raised the issue at my request, was informed that “Kilcullen Main Street has been listed by the Naas Area Office for resurfacing”.
I will continue to work on this issue and ensure that this resurfacing goes ahead as soon as possible.
Aside: As I was canvassing Kilcullen this week one resident remarked how fantastic it is that the Queen promised there would be another royal visit in 2016. He said “if she comes out to Gilltown again that might get the council out to do the roads!” – hopefully we won’t be waiting until then!
