Ógra Fianna Fáil are to hold their 2014 National Youth Conference in the Westgrove Hotel, Clane Co. Kildare. The joint bid from Ógra organisations in both Kildare North and South beat off competition from other constituencies to host the weekend of policy debate in November of this year.
The decision was made by the Ógra National Council at a meeting in Athlone on Saturday where I presented the bid on behalf of the Kildare organisation.
I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve been given the opportunity to host the 2014 NYC.
Fianna Fáil is growing its membership again. With two Ógra Councillors elected in Kildare and now the NYC coming here in November, young members in Kildare will have a fantastic opportunity to have their say in how we run our party.
The weekend will see over 500 delegates from across the island, north and south, come to Kildare to discuss policy issues and stimulate debate across a wide range of topics.
I’m very pleased that we’ll be able to bring this event to Kildare and hope that it will be of some benefit to the local economy. We have a fantastic selection of hotels and event centres right across the county which are competitively priced and ideally located with great road networks and transport links into and around the county. So when it comes to competing for events like this, Kildare is in a very strong position.
