I’m pleased to report that after much consultation and perseverance with the council, the broken lights in Cnoc na Gréine, Kilcullen have been replaced.
For almost two years now, residents have been subject to, at times, complete darkness in their estate – which is the largest in Kilcullen.
During the course of my election campaign I made a commitment to work to resolve this ongoing issue. On Friday 10th, after a long campaign of to-ing and fro-ing with council staff, airtricity and residents, Airtricity came out to make the repairs…just in time for the dark evenings!
I understand there may be one or two lights which were not repaired on the day and I’ll be following this up to see if it’s an oversight or if the repairs are pending.
I must commend the council for engaging in this work as a matter of public safety as the estate has still not been handed over by the developer who strictly speaking is responsible for this type of maintenance. The council have really stepped up here and shown commitment to working in the interest of residents where the developer has failed to do so.
